In this course, we explored how product design can influence human behavior. The focus was on understanding how digital products, such as calorie and food tracking apps, shape habits, motivation, and decision-making.
Each student developed an individual concept for a behavioral or health tracking app. Based on previously read books about nutrition or behavioral psychology, we created our own proto-personas and defined specific target groups. I worked with the book The 9 Rules of Metabolism and designed a more classic tracking app inspired by its principles, translating its core ideas into a structured and supportive digital experience.

SEMESTER PROJECT – BALANCE9
SEMESTER PROJECT – BALANCE9
I created the app “Balance9,” which follows the 9 rules of metabolism according to Prof. Dr. Ingo Froböse. It not only tracks what you consume during the day, but also your exercise sessions. It motivates you to keep going and gives you tips and suggestions on sports that suit your body, as well as optimal meal suggestions.

KEY INSIGHTS
KEY INSIGHTS
This course deepened my understanding of user behavior and motivation. I learned how important it is to clearly define a target group and design specifically for their needs, goals, and mindset. It strengthened my ability to think beyond aesthetics and focus on the psychological impact of design decisions.
